Hey guys!! :)
This is our first blog post...and we'll be discussing Beowulf. We started reading this poem in literature class and so far we have mixed views. Abbie : I don't really hate it but I don't love it either<3. Deanna: I find this poem really boring tbh. Discussing Characters: Beowulf Beowulf is obviously the main character and Grendel is the "big bad monster."
Grendel
Even though he may seem like he can't be harmed he meets his match with Beowulf who later defeats him. Themes: Good vs Evil This is the most evident theme in the poem.Beowulf is the good guy and Grendel is the evil monster. The battle between good and evil isn't as much about morals as it is about fate – and reputation. Mortality This poem constantly reminds us that EVERYONE is going to die. Tbh this poem is extremely morbid. The awareness of death is a constant for medieval warriors, who kill their enemies and watch their friends die on a daily basis. In a life filled with uncertainty and violence, these fighters must accept that everyone shares the same fate – death. |
